Couples are discovering that couples therapy to address sexual problems can be accelerated with advanced hypnosis. Couples therapy covers a wide range of issues from erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation to inability to reach orgasm and lack of arousal. These issues are often exacerbated by sexual performance anxiety and related issues that often make sexual problems more severe.
In couples therapy, the most frequently reported of these sexual problems are issues with low libido and arousal, inability to reach orgasm in women, and premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction in men. These issues often lead to performance anxiety, feelings of anger and rejection, and sometimes other sexual dysfunctions, all of which can undermine relationships.
All of these common sexual problems in couples therapy can usually be successfully treated by talk therapy, especially cognitive therapy, as well as medical interventions such as Viagra, or some combination of the two. When sexual problems are successfully addressed in therapy, couple often find their other problems are easier to resolve (and vice versa).
Hypnosis can be a highly successful adjunct to couples therapy for sexual problems. The Australian Journal of Clinical Hypnotherapy & Hypnosis reported in 1998 that a study of 189 people with psychological issues relating to sex, proved that self-hypnosis combined with cognitive therapy was more effective than therapy by itself.
